Week six of the 2025 NFL season

It's week six in the NFL season and following recent talk regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as a potential Super Bowl match-up, each surrendered their unbeaten records.
Notable during those contests was the number of infractions each conceded. The Eagles did so at crucial times meaning they essentially defeated themselves having led 17-3 going into the fourth period versus Denver, set to play overseas this weekend.
However it proved positive to see how Denver quarterback Bo Nix managed to have the shortfall and then lead three successful possessions on three possessions in the fourth quarter, securing the game 21-17.
Denver boast the defensive player of the year with cornerback Pat Surtain II. They are number one in red zone defence, whereas the Eagles lead the league in red zone offence, and the Broncos won that contest.
They executed the Eagles' number regarding disguised blitzes. They did not necessarily sending more than four pass rushers but they might plug two linebackers in the 'A' gap before drop them out and dispatch a slot defender off the edge.
At the start of the season, it was noted on a program how Denver could be this season's dark horses. They finished last season well then excelled in continuing that momentum.
Could Denver be this season's underdog story?
Recently acquired tight end their tight end has excelled significantly and recent RB their rusher is a player the team trusts. He now ranks fifth in the NFL for rushing yards (402) as well as tied-fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).
I love that the coach the Broncos' leader has "RUN IT!" prominently of his playcall sheet.
This demonstrates how Denver represent a squad that wants to prioritize the run, since one can do a lot off the back of that. It slows down the pass rush while keeps you in favourable down and distances.
It's also benefited QB the young passer, who entered the NFL as the 12th overall draft pick in the prior draft, passing for 29 TDs – just behind a star QB for the rookie record (31 back in 2020).
Other elite QBs possess the arm strength to throw all over, however they lack in the same way as Nix. He has exceptional arm talent, which is different, and he is highly agile.
His assets are his movement, being able to pass while moving, and finding different arm angles to make the pass as he moves out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He is able to deliver that layered pass over the middle and over the corner.
For a young quarterback, at 25, he's got a lot of composure under pressure and isn't bothered by extra rushers. He tries to evade a sack as much as possible and can throw in tight spots. He has a high football IQ and is quick to decide.
When you constantly rush it eats up time and makes the opponent to be in play extended periods, and if you've got an athletic quarterback the defense must defend the area downfield and horizontally. This proves exhausting.
Nix has bitten back at Payton on the sideline sometimes and it seems Payton appreciates that attitude, that he's such a competitor. I think it's fun for him to have a rookie QB that is kind of like play-dough. He can really develop him how he desires to build it. I believe it's a unique opportunity for the coach.
Payton has won a championship and has surpassed Bill Parcells in all-time victories (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed everything. In my opinion the achievements Denver are experiencing offensively is largely down to his leadership, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the pairing with the QB helps make him into who he is.
There's no better a more qualified person in your ear, to assist you through some of the tougher situations and boost confidence.
I believe in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet is the team good enough to face an elite team at its best? Since that wasn't championship-level play by the Eagles last Sunday.
Currently, it's unlikely Denver are elite. They're working above average, that's a solid position to hold the AFC West. The key is is maintain this path.
They excel at embracing their strength, which is the ground game, and that's exactly what they should do against the New York Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be a Dobbins-focused game, essentially.
New York have allowed 140 yards on the ground per game (sixth worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (in the bottom ten), and they're the sole squad without a win any game.
Since the league started recording turnovers in 1933, this team are also the first team to be without a single takeaway through five games, this is kind of shocking considering that their new coach was previously defensive co-ordinator with another team.
The Chiefs' QB stated Kansas City have 'already lost too many games' following a recent loss by the Jaguars.
Following this Sunday's game, Denver face a manageable slate up to their bye (in week 12) - the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans and the Raiders prior to the Chiefs.
In the AFC West, Kansas City hold a losing record and the Broncos are even with the Chargers on 3-2 meaning they could make a run for the top of the West.
It depends upon what version Kansas City shows up they meet since the Broncos {beat|def
