Seamer Gus Atkinson Compounds England's Fitness Problems.

'Significant concern' for the touring side as Atkinson leaves the field suffering a hamstring problem.

Gus Atkinson added to England's injury problems upon exiting the playing area during Saturday's play in the Melbourne Test versus the Australians.

The pace bowler pulled up with his left hamstring after the final ball in his spell during the morning session.

The England team reported the 27-year-old reported "discomfort" and was to take time on the sidelines in order to be assessed "over the next few hours".

The series decider in this Ashes battle beginning on 4 January gets underway this coming Sunday.

England have previously lost strike bowlers one seamer to a knee injury and another paceman to a side strain on this Ashes tour.

Matthew Fisher was added to the party as cover for Wood.

The seamer had a tough time in the opening two Tests, taking just three wickets.

He was omitted of the third Test, only to be brought back for the Boxing Day match to fill the void.

The county bowler performed better in the fourth Test, bagging two scalps in Australia's first innings, before adding 28 as a batsman being one of only three teammates to get into double digits.

After bowling one over late on the first day, he returned for the second day's play and removed Scott Boland taken by the wicketkeeper.

Unfortunately, on the final ball of the fifth over, he sent down a slower ball to Travis Head and suddenly grabbed at his leg.

Gus Atkinson was recalled for the Melbourne match after being left out the Adelaide game.
