Ukrainian authorities have declared the commencement of large-scale manufacturing for an innovative locally engineered defensive UAV to strengthen its air defences. Three initial manufacturers have started production, with an additional eleven preparing to establish production lines, the defence ministry stated this past Friday.
These UAVs utilize a nationally created technology known as “Octopus” engineered to intercept Shahed drones. The system underwent testing in actual battle and demonstrated effective “at night, under jamming and at low altitudes,” the ministry stated. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established a target of producing up to 1,000 defensive drones daily.
The Ukrainian president characterized Moscow's most recent assault against Ukraine as “intentional, premeditated and wicked” following six people lost their lives and dozens injured in a wave of nocturnal attacks across Kyiv. Alert systems activated in Kyiv shortly after 12 AM this past Friday, with enemy UAVs soon heard overhead and intensive defensive fire from Ukrainian air defences.
Zelenskyy reported the country was targeted by hundreds of UAVs and multiple missiles. Those killed were at home in an apartment building on Kyiv’s left bank when it was hit. Numerous of additional structures were damaged, including the Azerbaijani embassy.
The Azerbaijani government said it delivered a formal objection to Moscow's diplomatic representative on Friday after the embassy damage. An explosion from a Moscow's missile destroyed a section of the embassy’s perimeter wall and caused serious damage to the diplomatic compound, officials from Baku stated. No one was hurt, and an official representative confirmed the diplomatic mission in Ukraine was maintaining operations.
Russia plans to produce up to 120,000 glide bombs this year, a senior Ukrainian intelligence official disclosed, including 500 of an innovative, longer-range version that can reach more towns and cities. Moscow's military have been launching 200 to 250 aerial bombs daily, with the previous month's daily average standing at about 170, according to defence ministry data.
Russia’s Black Sea port of the port city temporarily suspended crude shipments this past Friday – equivalent to two percent of global supply – following a strike by Ukrainian forces. Military commanders in Kyiv said its military had fired Neptune cruise missiles and deployed multiple kinds of strike drones in the assault against Novorossiysk “as part of operations to diminish the strategic capabilities of the invading force.”
Ukraine separately struck an oil refinery in Russia’s Saratov region and an energy depot in the adjacent Engels region overnight.
Russia’s second-largest energy company Lukoil announced on Friday it has been in talks with potential buyers regarding its foreign assets after recent sanctions from the UK and the US and the collapse of a deal with the Gunvor trading house. “The specific deal are to be disclosed after conclusive negotiations have been reached and required authorizations have been obtained,” the company commented.
The Ukrainian leader is scheduled to travel to the city of Madrid, Madrid, on Tuesday to meet with lawmakers a day after his visit to Paris, the chamber of deputies announced. The Ukrainian president will convene with representatives from both chambers of parliament throughout his stay, an official announcement confirmed.
